September 14, 2017 - Planning for our 5th Annual WinterFest 5K is coming along nicely! We have Matthew’s Catering providing 4 varieties of soups for participants and volunteers, Kelley’s Pace in the Mystic Village has donated a $25 gift card that we plan to raffle off, and several sponsors have stepped up to support this community wellness event. Have you started training yet? Be sure to train for hills, as this course has a tough one!
The Norwich WinterFest 5K is focused on promoting wellness and community spirit. Last year, over 470 people participated in the event, bringing their friends and family along to cheer them on. We had all levels of runners and walkers, and even a man who completed the entire course on crutches! The FitKids Fun Run encourages youth involvement by offering a FREE ¾ mile race for kids of all ages. While the kids get gloves and medals, adults receive long sleeved tech shirts and the possibility of a cash prize. We continue the fun after the race with the Norwich WinterFest parade to ring in the holiday season.
